At Tec Centro York, our students are at the heart of everything we do. Hear directly from graduates whose lives have been transformed through workforce training and career opportunities.

My name is Roselys Torres, and I recently graduated high school in 2024. As a young woman just starting out, I wanted to find a career that I could be passionate about, something meaningful that would allow me to help others and grow as a person. That’s when I found the Allied Health Training Program at Tec Centro York.
Joining the Allied Health Training program at Tec Centro York has truly changed my life. When I enrolled in the Phlebotomy Program, I discovered a passion for patient care and developed skills that built my confidence and professionalism. The hands-on training and supportive instructors helped me see that I was capable of more than I ever imagined.
Tec Centro York gave me the guidance and encouragement I needed to succeed, helping me balance school, work, and family. Because of their support, I was able to earn my certification and start a career in healthcare, a field where I can make a real difference every day.
Now, with the strong foundation I’ve built through this program, I’m excited to take the next step in my journey. My goal is to continue my education and become an ultrasound tech, so I can keep growing and expanding my ability to help others.

I joined Tec Centro not only to get an affordable education, but to finally get out of my comfort zone. I used to think I couldn’t join healthcare because I was bad at math. But I took that leap with the Tec Centro Phlebotomy program.
I learned so much, both from books and real-life skills. I had an amazing teacher; I couldn’t have finished this without her. Matter of fact, the whole class couldn’t have done it without her, and we all graduated on the same day.
I really love to learn and do phlebotomy. I love how we got to not only do venipuncture on ourselves and volunteers, but we also got a chance to train at an actual hospital facility.

As I stand here today, my heart is truly full. Reaching this moment has taken strength, patience, and faith, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who helped me get here. This journey has shaped me in ways I will carry for a lifetime.
I want to extend my deepest appreciation to my instructor, Christina Guynn, my career navigator, Astrid, and my employment specialist, Angelisse. Your guidance, encouragement, and belief in my potential have meant more than words can express. To my family and friends, thank you for lifting me up through every challenge—your love, patience, and unwavering confidence in me kept me going even on the hardest days. You have been my anchor and my motivation.
During my time here, I haven’t just gained knowledge—I’ve grown as a person. I’ve learned resilience, perseverance, and the value of never giving up on myself. Every challenge strengthened me, every setback pushed me to rise, and every success reminded me of what I’m capable of. I am proud of who I am becoming, and I know this experience has prepared me for the opportunities ahead.
To my fellow classmates—my sisters—Rosa, Jasmine, Latisha, Aaliyah, and Dajhnae… sharing this journey with you has been one of the greatest gifts. You have inspired me, supported me, and made every moment meaningful. You are all remarkable women, and I’m honored to call you family.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who has been part of this incredible chapter in my life. I am forever grateful for your support, your kindness, and your belief in me. Here’s to the future—to continuing to learn, grow, and make an impact
